COCO & CIPI – Our „Calendar Pets“ of Mai 2011
This month our calendar pets are in regards of two budgerigars „Coco & Cipi“ that travelled from Princeton, New Jersey to Basel. A well established relocation company contacted ACE Pet Moving with the request to take care of a client with her two feathered family members.
There is lots to consider when it comes to the international travel of birds. The importation from third countries are only possible under strict regulations. The owner must travel on the same flight. The birds have to arrange a quarantine prior to departure and require endorsed health certificates.
Be aware that most parrots, such as african greys, cockatoos and many more are protected by The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). Luckily budgerigars are not protected and may travel without CITES permits.
The ACE Team informed the owner of Coco & Cipi about the requirements and helped her through the procedure. We delivered the travel crate for the birds well ahead of time to the owner. Once the owner booked her flight with Continental Airlines from Newark to Zurich, we arranged the reservation for Coco & Cipi. We took care of the border vet inspection and import clearance right upon arrival and delivered them to the owner in Basel.
